In Trasdeza, the A vila do mañá program started, although inclement weather affected the activities of some groups. They will work on the development of a plant wall and an orchard in Juan Salgueiro square, along with other outdoor initiatives in different streets of Silleda, to bring the territory closer to the little ones.

This is what councilor Ángeles Vázquez and architect Sandra González Álvarez, promoter of the educational and informative initiative A vila do moraan, which has been carried out so far in around 15 Galician municipalities and whose objective is that, from childhood and through play, awareness is created on all scales of common space: architecture, heritage, urbanism and landscape.

In the same way, as he explained to the councillor, it is also sought to bring the architectural discipline to the world of two children so that there is an exchange of knowledge and the professionals can approach the vision of the towns and cities that the new generations have.

To this end, A vila do moraan proposes to carry out a whole series of workshops given by students from the Escola Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, adapted in each case to the age of the two participants and us that the street becomes an authentic operational space, making available to children and teenagers all the necessary tools to develop their creativity from art and architecture.

In this sense, Ángeles Vázquez celebrated that initiatives like this put the focus on urbanism, the landscape and the relationship we have with our environment from a very early age, seeking active involvement by the new generations in the construction processes of neighborhoods, cities and squares and the improvement of abandoned or deteriorated environments due to the impact of so-called urban feism.

For his part, González stressed the importance of contact between different generations to guarantee a two-way learning, because the participating children “discover what is behind two walls” of buildings around them, such as, for example, Casa do Concello.

It should be remembered that the Consellería has also collaborated since 2000 with the Official College of Architects called Project Terra, a program of pedagogical activities that takes place in educational centers throughout Galicia with the aim of educating and generating a critical spirit among Primary and Secondary students in relation to architecture and landscape.”

“The Department of Environment, Territory and Housing of the Xunta de Galicia will study the possibility of collaborating in a new educational project driven from the field of architecture and aimed at Galician children and teenagers.

This was agreed upon by councilor Ángeles Vázquez and architect Sandra González Álvarez, promoter of the educational and informative initiative La villa del mañana, which has been carried out so far in around 15 Galician town halls and whose objective is that, from childhood and through play, awareness is created about all the scales of the common space: architecture, heritage, urban planning and the landscape.

In the same way, as he explained to the councillor, it is also sought to bring architectural discipline to the world of children so that there is an exchange of knowledge and professionals can approach the vision of the towns and cities that have the new generations

For this, La villa del mañana proposes the realization of a whole series of workshops given by students of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, adapted in each case to the age of the participants and in which the street becomes a real operational space , making available to children and adolescents all the necessary tools to develop their creativity in art and architecture.

In this sense, Ángeles Vázquez celebrated that initiatives like this put the focus on urbanism, the landscape and the relationship we maintain with our environment from a very early age, seeking an active involvement on the part of the new generations in the construction processes of the neighborhoods, cities and squares and in the improvement of abandoned or deteriorated environments due to the impact of the so-called urban feism.

“The Xunta will study collaborating with the project ‘A vila do moraan’, an educational initiative promoted from the field of architecture and aimed at Galician children and adolescents.

This is what the Ministry of Environment, Territory and Housing has moved, after the meeting held this Tuesday between Minister Ángeles Vázquez and the architect and promoter of this project, Sandra González Álvarez.

This informative initiative has already been put into practice in some 15 municipalities in Galicia and its objective is to make the youngest, through play, aware of scales in common spaces: architecture, heritage, urbanism and the landscape

‘Tomorrow’s village’ is developed through workshops taught by students from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, adapted to the children’s ages, and in which the street becomes an operational space. In this way, young people are given the necessary tools to develop their creativity in art and architecture.

Councilor Ángeles Vázquez has celebrated these initiatives, which focus on urban planning and the landscape, and on people’s relationship with their environment from a very early age. Thus, the new generations, he highlighted, can participate in the construction processes of neighborhoods, cities and squares, and in the improvement of abandoned or deteriorated environments due to the impact of ‘urbanism’.

In addition to studying the collaboration with this project, the Consellería has recalled that, since 2000, it has collaborated with the Official College of Architects in the so-called ‘Project Tierra’, a program of educational activities that is developed in educational centers in Galicia to educate and generate critical spirit in relation to architecture and landscape.”

“We had to be vigilant with the weather, because the rain came and went, but in small groups, small participants in the A vila do mañá project were able to go through the Coruña Carballo street. This year’s motto, Dálle cor a Carballo, was going well adjusted to yesterday’s activity, because that’s what they worked with, with color and art, even as a (positive) weapon against the dark days that the coronavirus has brought. The pandemic has also had its impact on some of the activities of this initiative, since, unlike previous experiences, many have had to move to the Internet and home: they will continue in the coming days.”

With another element, a paper frame, this week they also started to frame the architectural elements that are important to them. the 2018 edition would not have happened”, emphasizes the architect Sandra González, director of the project. The next collective challenge is the construction, today, of a vegetable wall in Vila de Noia Street after the children prepared the containers in which the seeds will be planted. The project team chose three different plants – pumpkin, corn and beans – to grow in the first urban vertical garden.”
